Grandslam!

When I am umpiring a high school baseball game I get a big thrill when I can watch a kid launch the baseball over the outfield fence and I get to step up and give the homerun sign. It is great to watch that person accomplish something so great when the statistical odds are against them even getting a hit. When I was watching Sarah Palin delivering her speech last night I witnessed someone not only hitting a homerun but an out of the park grand slam homerun. The Obama campaign and the DNC (aka the national media) had loaded the bases and were ready for her game losing bottom of the ninth two-out strikeout speech and she sent the ball into the parking lot and cleared the bases with a grand slam!

This is the GOP that I love and am glad to see return. We have become the party of appeasers to those “across the aisle” and now we are moving back to the principled people we are. For too long now our “conservative” elected representatives have tried to get along with the others as they viciously trounce all over Conservatives. I am not advocating that we as Conservatives stoop to their level of dishonest dealings but am saying we need to get our spines put back in and stand up for what we believe in. Sarah Palin’s class act last night was a great lesson in how it is done. She was pleasant, smiling, principled and confident at a time when she would have put any Ultimate Fighter on the run. Obama and Biden are probably feeling a bit sore today after the shots they took from her last night.

So where do we go from here? Sarah Palin laid some groundwork that we need to build on. She laid out the case for being a Conservative in the world we now live in and for being a citizen in this great country we call home. If we continue to build on that message without sounding like walking mp3 players who are just mindlessly repeating what was said in a great speech then we will have a victory in November. We need to learn and know what it is we are talking about so we can discuss issues in an intelligent manner. Since we are the party of facts and they are the party of feelings it drives the liberals mad when you can present an intelligent argument.

This is an opportunity that Conservatives have not had in years so we need to understand it is rare that the homeruns win a game but it is almost always the hits that go along with the homerun that add up to the win. We got a homerun last night so now we need to grab our bats, step up to the plate, keep adding the hits and make this election in November a shutout!

A Great Day in America!

Today is a great day for Oregon and the United States of America!  Not only am I starting a blog on the great Townhall.com website , but John McCain made a tremendous announcement in his choice for VP.  With his announcement of Sarah Palin it is time for the dnc to pack up and go home for four more years.  B. Hussein Obama does not stand a chance come this November!  With that being said....we, as Conservatives, need to make sure we do not just sit back on our heels and allow this great opportunity to pass us by.

Sarah Palin has far more Executive level experience than Obama and Biden put together.  She has been both a mayor and a governor and is truly a proven champion for responsible and accountable government.  It is odd that Obama can talk about wanting to change the way government does business and than proceeds to pick the sixth longest serving current senator as his running mate.  Would not an outsider and not part of the established network be the best person to identify the problems and initiate change?

Time to get busy and prepare for the November landslide!
