Grandslam!

When I am umpiring a high school baseball game I get a big thrill when I can watch a kid launch the baseball over the outfield fence and I get to step up and give the homerun sign. It is great to watch that person accomplish something so great when the statistical odds are against them even getting a hit. When I was watching Sarah Palin delivering her speech last night I witnessed someone not only hitting a homerun but an out of the park grand slam homerun. The Obama campaign and the DNC (aka the national media) had loaded the bases and were ready for her game losing bottom of the ninth two-out strikeout speech and she sent the ball into the parking lot and cleared the bases with a grand slam!

This is the GOP that I love and am glad to see return. We have become the party of appeasers to those “across the aisle” and now we are moving back to the principled people we are. For too long now our “conservative” elected representatives have tried to get along with the others as they viciously trounce all over Conservatives. I am not advocating that we as Conservatives stoop to their level of dishonest dealings but am saying we need to get our spines put back in and stand up for what we believe in. Sarah Palin’s class act last night was a great lesson in how it is done. She was pleasant, smiling, principled and confident at a time when she would have put any Ultimate Fighter on the run. Obama and Biden are probably feeling a bit sore today after the shots they took from her last night.

So where do we go from here? Sarah Palin laid some groundwork that we need to build on. She laid out the case for being a Conservative in the world we now live in and for being a citizen in this great country we call home. If we continue to build on that message without sounding like walking mp3 players who are just mindlessly repeating what was said in a great speech then we will have a victory in November. We need to learn and know what it is we are talking about so we can discuss issues in an intelligent manner. Since we are the party of facts and they are the party of feelings it drives the liberals mad when you can present an intelligent argument.

This is an opportunity that Conservatives have not had in years so we need to understand it is rare that the homeruns win a game but it is almost always the hits that go along with the homerun that add up to the win. We got a homerun last night so now we need to grab our bats, step up to the plate, keep adding the hits and make this election in November a shutout!

That Scandalous Sarah Palin

This is a great time for Republicans in America and I hope that we can thoroughly enjoy it but do not get so complacent that we squander the election. The lunatic left is in a real panic and it is nice to be able to sit back and watch them have to up their dose of Prozac.

Reading left-wing blogs and watching CNN is usually rather mundane and boring but since last Friday they are actually entertaining and encouraging. First of all we have CNN’s John Roberts questioning whether or not Sarah Palin will be able to give proper care to her Down’s syndrome child if she is the VP (the implication is that she will be neglecting her baby). Who is he to question the woman who chose not to abort her “Gift from God” when lefties like John Roberts would have made a mad dash to the nearest “Baby Killers ‘R Us” (aka Planned Parenthood)?

Then we have the rampant and unfounded story about how the Down’s syndrome child is not Sara’s child but rather that of her oldest daughter. This is based on the two facts that she does not look pregnant in some photos and her daughter missed some school because of a case of mono. Before long they will be saying that Bill Clinton fathered the child so Hillary can start screaming about another “vast right-wing conspiracy”.

We also have the “scandalous” firing of a public official. The best part of this whole story is that Sarah Palin has embraced the investigation with open arms and has asked to be held accountable for any wrongdoing by her or her staff. Sounds like a guilty person to me. I personally would have fired the guy for incompetence long before he was let go because you had a state trooper who had broken numerous laws and policies and he was still working as a state trooper. Because that trooper happens to be a former brother-in-law the libs are trying to use it as a scandal. With the Clintons in their camp you would think the Dems would be experienced enough that they could spot a real scandal when they see one.  Of course if that were true then BO would not be the one on the ballot this November but rather he could be visiting his friends Mr. Rezko and Mr. Ayers.

Watch the media and see how many of these rumors are getting air time while Joe Biden’s Vietnam deferments do not. Dick Cheney was slammed by the left for his five student deferments so it would be interesting to hear them explain how it is alright that Joe Biden got five student deferments. Oh wait, Cheney is a Conservative. That explains it.
